Fred Nickles, Atlantic City Superintendent of Public Schools
Receives new three year contract.

Vote was 8 in favor. 1 opposed. 2 abstentions, by Shay Steele and
George Crouch.

I have to say, I consider it odd to abstain and not take a position on
a vote as crucial as the chief school executive.

Also, I recall how publicly supportive Nickles was of Steele and
Crouch, and substantially assisted them in their pursuit if Board of
Education seats. Loyalty is a commodity that is in very rare supply
these days.

At least Steele and Crouch chose not to vote against Nickles new
contract extension.

Nickles' new contract begins on July 1, 2009 and is for 3 years.
Nickles will receive a 3 1/2% increase per-year.

Nickles has provided stability that the district did not gave before
his arrival.

This is a very well deserved new contract.
