Local 54 PAC makes
November election endorsements
Atlantic City . . . At its most
recent meeting, the Political Action Committee of Atlantic
City’s UNITE HERE Local 54, endorsed James (Jim) Schroeder
for the office of Atlanti County Freeholder-at-Large and
Frank LoBiondo for re-election to the United States
Congress. UNITE HERE Local 54 is the hotel and restaurant
employees union representing more than 15,000 workers in the
resort’s casino hotel industry.
Schroeder, a Democrat, is a former teacher and later, a
lobbyist for the New Jersey Education Association. LoBiondo,
a Republican will be running for his eighth term in
Congress.
“We feel that Jim Schroeder, as both a member and
official of the NJEA, will have the welfare and protection
of the working person in mind when dealing with issues that
come before the Freeholder Board. Frank LoBiondo’s record,
in serving the constituents from his district, certainly
speaks for itself. He has always been available to discus
and review issues that are important to our members and
members of the general public. His honesty and his
willingnes to hear all opinions presents a compelling reason
for our union to offer its endorsement for his re-election,”
says Bob McDevitt, President of UNITE HERE Local 54.
