inside sources, CLOSE TO THE NEGOTIATIONS, have told

that
Atlantic City Police Chief John Mooney is trying to
negotiate a new employment contract in the waning days
of outgoing Mayor Scott Evans' final few weeks in
office.
Our
insiders report that Mooney is seeking somewhere in the
neighborhood of $ 200,000 per-year in base salary and
other incentives in his overall compensation package.
City
Council would have to approve any new employment
contract, which at that number could prove difficult
to amass the political support necessary to approve that
"rich" a financial compensation package.
Our sources
have indicated that Mooney wants to try and get himself
a new deal now before Mayor Lorenzo Langford returns to
office.
The new
Mayor of Atlantic City will take office on or before
Friday, November 6, 2008.
