10TH STRAIGHT
PERFECT AUDIT SOLIDIFIES
ATLANTIC COUNTY’S RECORD AS
THE FINEST
RUN COUNTY GOVERNMENT IN
NEW JERSEY
Last night the Atlantic
County Board of Chosen Freeholders voted unanimously to
certify the 10th consecutive perfect audit of
Atlantic County Government. The 2008 audit completes a
decade of unrivaled fiscal management dating back to
1999 and has solidified Atlantic County’s reputation of
having the finest run County Government in New Jersey.
During the meeting auditors
praised Atlantic County Government under County
Executive Dennis Levinson and the Republican controlled
Freeholder Board for running what they called a ‘very
tight ship’ and doing ‘a great job’ financially.
The findings contained in
the two-hundred page audit were so compelling that they
even drew praise from across the aisle when Freeholder
Jim Schroeder publicly commended the Republican
administration, county employees and his predecessors on
the Freeholder Board.
“Atlantic County under
Republican Leadership has managed every taxpayer dollar
with a prudence and efficiency that is second to none,”
said Freeholder Chairman Jim Curcio. “A decade worth of
perfect audits by four different auditing firms have now
confirmed what we have already known for a very long
time now…Atlantic County has the finest run county
government in the State of New Jersey.”
Freeholder At-Large Frank
Giordano expressed his hope that the Governor and
legislators in Trenton would look at Atlantic County
Government before adopting this year’s state budget.
“Trenton should take a good
hard look at the stark contrast between the disastrous
economic policies of Jon Corzine and the fiscally
responsible, tax cutting policies of Atlantic County
Government,” said Giordano. “Through careful planning
and responsible fiscal management the Levinson team has
been able to cut the county tax rate for eight of the
last nine years saving taxpayers millions of dollars
without increasing debt. Unfortunately, Trenton
continues to tax, borrow and spend with a blatant
disregard for the consequences on hard working Atlantic
County families.
