9th Annual “Toys for Kids”
“Christmas in July” Block Party
The “9th Annual - Toys for Kids - Christmas in July -
Block Party” will be held on Sunday July 13, from 12
noon to 5 P.M. on Davis Avenue and Wabash Avenue, along
the bike path, in Linwood.
According to Sgt. Greg DePiano, President of the “Toys
for Kids“, because of the tremendous success of last
year’s event which was attended by over 1,000
individuals, new committees have been formed to assist
in preparation and organization for this year’s event.
The 2008 Committees are Michelle Riordan, Main Event
Coordinator; Alex Mercado, Sponsor Coordinator; Atlantic
County Freeholder Alisa Cooper, Publicity and Media
Coordinator; Corey Riley, Toy Collection &
Distribution; Beth Epstein, Website Manager; Officers
Jack Parisi and Howard Booye, Volunteer Coordinators;
and Joan De Piano - Raffles and Door Prizes.
The event will feature an appearance by Santa Claus at
2:00 PM, and a large variety of games, raffles, food,
and entertainment. At last year’s event, over $3,000
in door prizes were donated by area merchants,
individuals and sponsors.
The “Toys for Kids” program is recognized through out
Atlantic County where thousands of gifts are collected
and then, distributed during the month of December to
local children. Because of the compassion and
generosity of dedicated volunteers and sponsors who help
throughout the year and with this annual event, those
less fortunate in Atlantic County are able to enjoy the
Christmas holidays.
Admission to the event is free, however, a new,
unwrapped toy or game that “would put a smile on a
child’s face” is required. For additional information
or to become a sponsor or volunteer, please contact
Sgt. Greg DePiano at 226-1560 or Michelle Riordan at
335-4114.
