JOSE CANSECO TO BOX AT BERNIE
ROBBINS STADIUM; OPPONENT NEEDED
Atlantic City, N.J. –
Former major-leaguer Jose Canseco will participate in
a celebrity boxing match at Bernie Robbins Stadium, home of
the Atlantic City Surf, on Saturday, July 12. Canseco’s
match will be the first of seven on the evening, with the
bouts getting under way at 7:30 p.m.
Canseco is still searching
for an opponent for the fight. Those interested my e-mail

opponent, who will receive $5,000 for his appearance, will
be announced on Tuesday, May 27.
“Jose’s appearance is one
more reason why it’s going to be an unforgettable summer at
Bernie Robbins Stadium,” Surf vice president Ryan Conley
said. “With exciting Can-Am League baseball under our new
manager Cecil Fielder, ten fireworks shows, memorable
promotions and giveaways, and an array of celebrities like
Jose and William Hung making appearances, fans won’t
want to miss any of the action.”

NICOLETTI TO SERVE AS COACH
Atlantic City, N.J. – The
Surf have announced that Phil Nicoletti will serve as
a coach under manager Cecil Fielder this season.
Along with his duties with the Surf, Nicoletti is also in
his second season as an associate area scout with the
Cleveland Indians, and is a staff member for International
Performance Baseball.
Last season,
the native of Lynn, Mass., spent the summer of 2007 as an
instructor for the TPX Top96 College Coaches Clinics, and as
the head baseball coach at Armstrong Ringsted High School in
Armstrong, Iowa. Nicoletti, 26, began his coaching career at
Iowa Lakes College in Estherville, Iowa.
