LoBiondo Announces USDA Funding for Egg
Harbor City
$476,000 Grant, $5,056,000 Loan Approved for
Extension of Sewer Lines to Rural Residents, Proposed High
School
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S.
Representative Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02) today announced
that the Egg Harbor City was awarded a $476,000 grant from
the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to be used in the
extension of water and sewer lines to rural residents in the
city. This project would also provide water and sewer
service for the proposed high school. An additional
$5,056,000 in a 40 year, low interest rate loan was also
approved by the USDA for the project.
“I am pleased Egg Harbor
City will receive this federal funding for the needed
expansion of city water and sewer lines,” said LoBiondo.
“USDA Rural Development continues to be a great partner with
communities in South Jersey and today’s announcement is
proof of the positive results that can be achieved.”
“With the
help of USDA and Congressman LoBiondo, we are happy this
funding is going to move our high school project forward.
Additionally, the 200 to 250 single-family homes being
planned around the high school, known as Egg Harbor North,
can move ahead,” said Egg Harbor City Mayor Joe Kuehner. “We
appreciate the support.”
“Rural Development is very
pleased to be able to provide this funding to Egg Harbor
City. These funds will provide the necessary civic
improvements for the City to move forward in providing
essential community facilities and improve the economic
conditions of the City and surrounding communities. The
primary impacts will provide new good paying jobs during
the construction phase and these improvements will create
additional employment into the future,” said Andrew Law,
State Director for USDA. “Egg Harbor City is a key community
in Atlantic County. When completed, the improvements to the
sanitary sewer system will provide positive economic
impacts, sustainable growth and development for this region
of the state.”
Egg Harbor City was
previously awarded $2.3 million for this project in fiscal
year 2006.
