LoBiondo Announces Funding for Ocean City
Airport
Nearly $450,000 Awarded for Construction of
New Drainage System
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S.
Congressman Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02), a member of the House
Aviation Subcommittee, today announced $445,947 in federal
funding for Ocean City from the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA). The city will use the funding to
improve the airport drainage system at the Ocean City
Municipal Airport, replacing approximately 4,500 feet of
broken and distressed pipes.
“I am pleased Ocean City
will receive this substantial federal investment for the
replacement of the airport’s drainage system,” said
LoBiondo. “As the Ocean City airport continues to be a
critical piece of the local transportation network and
economic base, we must ensure the continued safe operation
of the facility for residents and visitors to the region.”
The federal
funding is awarded from the FAA’s Airport Improvement
Program. Eligible projects include those improvements
related to enhancing airport safety, capacity, security, and
environmental concerns. Any professional services that are
necessary for eligible projects — such as planning,
surveying, and design — are eligible as is runway, taxiway,
and apron pavement maintenance. Aviation demand at the
airport must justify the projects, which must also meet
Federal environmental and procurement requirements.
