ATTORNEY JAMES LEONARD, JR.
TO HANDLE DAVID THOMAS
RECONSIDERATION OF
"HARSH SENTENCE"
Former Pleasantville Board of Education member
David Thomas has retained the services of James
Leonard Jr. to seek a re-consideration of his
sentence which forced him to resign his seat on
the Pleasantville Board of Education and forfeit
his employment with the City of Atlantic City
after he was charged with official misconduct
for allegedly ordering a Public Works employee
to drive an Atlantic City trash truck to the
city of Pleasantville.
In
light of Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted
Houssel's position on John Schultz not having to
forfeit his position or public employment,
Leonard will petition the prosecutor and the
Court to "re-consider" the Thomas plea deal and
sentence.
Leonard has categorized the harsh treatment of
Thomas as "selective prosecution" on the part of
the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office,
particularly in light of the leniency showed to
John Schultz.
Leonard has confirmed that he is willing to take
the matter to the Appellate Division if
necessary in hopes of securing "equal justice"
for David Thomas.
