Former AC Mayor Lorenzo
Langford Calls For Investigation Relating to
Reported Bribery Charges Involving Scott Evans
-Atlantic City
The former Mayor and
candidate for Mayor of Atlantic City, Lorenzo
Langford, held a Press Conference today, April 30,
2008, 12:00 Noon at North Carolina and Atlantic
Avenues in the park directly across from the
Langford for Mayor Headquarters, where serious
matters of public corruption were addressed.
"We now have two public
officials, Dominic Cappella and Councilman At-Large
George Tibbitt, who have come forward to report that
bribes have been offered by the campaign of Scott
Evans, which are direct and deliberate attempts to
improperly affect the free and fair elective process
in Atlantic City", said Lorenzo Langford.
"These are the very same acts
of corruption that our citizens have fought so hard
to rid our city of during the past two years", said
Langford.
"People must be free to
support and vote for the candidates whom they can
believe in. The citizens of Atlantic City deserve a
Mayor who will continue to root out the corruption
and misconduct of the previous two years".
"Only then, will we have a
government in Atlantic City that will inspire
confidence to our residents, tourists, business
people and future investors to our city" said
Langford.
"It is unacceptable to
utilize positions of public trust in an effort to
pervert our system of laws. I am calling on the
County Prosecutor, State Attorney General, the
Office of Government Integrity and the Federal
Bureau of Investigations to launch an immediate
probe to investigate, and if necessary to prosecute
these very serious reported acts of
corruption", concluded Langford.
