MAYS LANDING, NEW JERSEY - The
"Hurley in the Morning" Inaugural Golf
Open, held on June 20, 2008 at The
Mays Landing Golf and Country Club has raised $
23,000 in net proceeds, which will directly benefit:
THE HERO CAMPAIGN FOR DESIGNATED DRIVERS
THE JOAN FINERAN NURSING SCHOLARSHIP FUND
THE
STANLEY S. HOLMES VILLAGE WORK TEAM
"I want
to take this opportunity to thank the community, our
fabulous tournament committee and generous
contributors," said event founder and chairman Harry
Hurley, Host of the "Hurley in the
Morning" radio program, weekday
mornings on WIBG 1020 AM Radio. "This
was an absolute joy from start-to-finish, and our
end results have exceeded all expectations."
The
first presentation will be a $ 7,000 check to be
presented to Bill Elliott of The Hero Campaign for
Designated Drivers, this Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at
8:35 a.m., live on-the-air, during the
"Hurley" program.
The
second presentation will take place later this week
at a pizza party being planned by Atlantic City
Councilman George Tibbitt for the Stanley Holmes
Village Work Team (at Gino's Pizza & Restaurant,
North Carolina and Atlantic Avenues).
The
Joan Fineran Nursing Scholarship Fund will also
receive their proceeds later this week.
"Harry
Hurley and his team deserve a huge congratulations
on the success of the 1st Harry Hurley Golf
tournament," said Jim Fraser, owner of The Mays
Landing Golf and Country Club. "To raise over 23,000
dollars for charity at a first time event is really
amazing. Our staff, management and our family were
proud to be a part of it," said Fraser.
The
2nd Annual "Hurley in the Morning Golf
Open" is already scheduled for Friday,
June 19, 2009 at The Mays Landing Golf and Country
Club, 1855 Cates Road in Mays Landing, New Jersey.
