HarryHurley.com BOB McDEVITT WINS 20-17 SQUEEKER OVER STEVE YOUNG By HARRY HURLEY Editor & Publisher HarryHurley.com FIRST REPORTED HERE BREAKING NEWS 6:41 P.M. McDevitt is the new Atlantic City Democratic Party Chairman The Whelan-Ruff-McDevitt political scheme works tonight. Amazingly, three (3) Young voters arrived minutes after the Atlantic City vote concluded. Two other Committee Members attended and did not cast a vote, A very divided Atlantic City Democratic Party at this time. Most Callaways stayed away. Fifteen members didn't even vote tonight. The hasty scheme to hurry and vote, right before the County Chairman vote propelled McDevitt to victory. The Atlantic City bylaws do call for the first vote on the Monday after Election Day. It's just a shame that such poor communication to Committee Members allowed for such a vote to take place in this manner. Those responsible for this should reflect upon the way they handled themselves. Congratulations to McDevitt on his victory. It wasn't pretty ... But, as they say ... a win is a win. McDevitt now has a two-year term.

7:01 p.m. update Scott Evans Chaired a very fair Atlantic City Democratic Committee meeting tonight. In fairness, it must be noted that he did not participate in anything that would open him to criticism of any kind. Evans did his last duty as Democratic Chairman and did it well. The voting process has now begun for the selection of a new Atlantic County Democratic Chairman to replace Ron Ruff. Pat D'arcy is the favorite. He is facing a significant challenge from Marc Ginsburg. The Atlantic City 20-17 vote, means that Ginsburg will not pile up any advantage coming out of Atlantic City

Jim Whelan is working The Clarion Hotel Atlantic County Democratic Chairman selection process feverishly. They are working as though Pat D'Arcy is in electoral trouble. Worry and concern as voting begins. Another source reports to us that D'Arcy has the votes, as most Committee Members will fall in line for Whelan's hand-picked successor to Ron Ruff.
