Commemorating Memorial Day
May, 30, 2008
The Disabled
American Veterans Chapter 10 of Atlantic City and the
Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 155 of Atlantic
and Cape May counties will honor their fallen heroes. On
Friday May 30th precisely at 11:00 AM the
ceremony will begin. The ceremony will take place at
Providence and Atlantic Avenue(s), Captain O’Donnell Park in
Atlantic City.
There we plan
the following; Flag raising ceremony and the song God Bless
America, the laying of a wreath and Taps and a brief
commentary by distinguish speakers, Freeholder Thomas Russo
and the Atlantic County Veterans Advisory Board Chairman
Mike Sciullo. They will speak from the heart about veterans
that have made a difference by sacrifices throughout our
nation’s history.
Today we are a free nation and that freedom was brought by
veterans who have sacrificed their lives and the symbol of
that freedom is the honored Purple Heart Medal. What is
sacrifice? The fallen heroes and disabled veterans of this
great nation knows all to well what it is. We must each be
willing to sacrifice on behalf of our country. If it weren't
for the fallen and the disabled veterans' sacrifices on the
battlefield, we wouldn't have the option of living in a free
country such as ours.
