COHEN DISPUTES

COMMISSIONER
JOHN
STROEBELE'S
PUBLIC
COMMENT
THAT HE
ENCOURAGED STROEBELE
TO RUN
FOR RE-ELECTION
COHEN
DENIES THIS ... HERE'S HIS
LETTER TO HARRY HURLEY
Dear
Harry,
I would
like to clear up a statement made by Commissioner
Stroebele on this morning's radio show. Many months
ago Commissioner
Stoebele asked me if I thought he should run again.
I told him that
If he wanted to run that was his decision. That was
not an
endorsement for him and certainly after evaluating
the new candidates
my wife and I clearly supported the team of Russo,
Lawler and Leeds.
In fact my wife is co chair of the campaign. I would
also take
exception to the statements he made regarding the
previous
administration and the insinuation that people were
intimated while
signing petitions regarding the police department.
Our Police are
very special to us in every way and the people of
this great town
have felt this way since the department was formed.
Many people have
moved here because of our caring force. Our
protection is unsurpassed
and it has been my privilege to work with many of
them over my 40
years in the borough. It is a shame Mr. Stoeblele
does not show that
same feeling.
Harry,
Please say Hello to Margie, your daughter and
Jon.... and
give the baby a big kiss. It is my pleasure to read
your column each
week and listen to you on the radio.
Mike( the Old Mayor) Cohen
