ATLANTIC CITY MAYORAL CANDIDATE MEETS WITH
SENIORS AT COMMUNITY HAVEN.
Assistant Business Administrator and Mayoral
Candidate Domenic Cappella hosted a question and
answer session with concerned voters at the
Community Haven apartment building this
morning.
Donning a baseball cap emblazoned with Worlds
Greatest Grandpa, Mr. Cappella began the
hour-long discussion by encouraging the elderly
residents to rename their meeting room “The
Library” in reference to the volumes of
knowledge each could relate to younger
generations.
Each of the veteran voters attending the round
table expressed concern over the apparent lack
of security in the neighborhood and violent
disturbances from rowdy bars in the area. Mr.
Cappella reiterated his dedication to
reorganizing the Police Department in order to
accomplish what he described as, “more soldiers
and less generals” to combat these issues.
Adding more foot patrols and reducing department
administration is a theme spearheaded by Mr.
Cappella and has recently been picked up by the
other primary candidates.
The Assistant Business Administrator also
addressed concerns relating to casino
development and taxes. Mr. Cappella stressed
the need to encourage developers to invest in
Atlantic City and treat tax revenue from the
gaming halls with more care. “Casinos pay 80%
of the taxes in Atlantic City… and that’s
plenty. We need to spend the money more wisely
and stop spending it on lawsuits and more
employees,” was the response to a question from
the audience.
The reaction to Mr. Cappella’s straight talk
about the issues and promise of real change if
elected was well received and appreciated by
those who attended the casual forum.
