Housel acquiesced his judicial
responsibilities in ACFD sex scandal
Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel has made a
mockery of justice in the ACFD investigation and should
be immediately fired. His decision to not file charges
in the firehouse sex scandal reeks with the stench
of racism, sexism and discrimination.
The Atlantic County prosecutor's office has
consistently displayed a bias in the decisions on which
cases to prosecute and which cases to downgrade, or,
in this case dropped altogether. The cases of Atlantic
City Councilman John Schultz and Galloway Township
Councilman Bill Ackerman, both white and both
initially charged with indictable offenses, were readily
downgraded by the Prosecutor's office.
This pattern of selective prosecution based on
race and class is unacceptable and unconstitutional. The
NAACP will consult with our attorney and move with all
speed to file a federal compliant with the U.S.
Department of Justice against the Atlantic County
Prosecutor's office. Furthermore, we shall urged the New
Jersey State Attorney General Office to review this
travesty of justice.
