Councilman George Tibbitt Denounces Negative and
Divisive Campaigning
Tactics
In Atlantic City Elections
-Atlantic City
Atlantic City Councilman-At-Large George Tibbitt
has called for a halt to all negative and
divisive campaigning tactics relating to the
upcoming Primary Election Day on Tuesday, June
2, 2009.
"It is
apparent that there are many more important ways
to utilize the precious few days that we have,
than by the recent negative and polarizing
charges of the past few days relating to the
recent Atlantic City Housing Authority
appointment issue", said Councilman Tibbitt.
"Neither myself nor anyone else in a campaign
that I am associated with should or will conduct
themselves in ways that are purposefully
intended to divide our citizens", said
Councilman Tibbitt. "The issues facing Atlantic
City are too serious for this".
"I find
the recent inflammatory charges against Mayor
Lorenzo Langford by Councilman Marty Small to be
precisely the type of negative campaigning that
our residents have rejected, and as such I can
no longer associate myself with a campaign that
has been reduced to these kinds of unproductive
tactics".
"If
there are any legitimate causes for concern, the
responsible thing to do, would be to call for a
proper investigation of all the issues before
making unsubstantiated charges against the Mayor
of Atlantic City", said Councilman Tibbitt.
"Effective immediately, I have
removed myself from any position of association
with the Small campaign, and will do what I have
always done which is to campaign with my own
prosperous message of hope and my record of
accomplishment as a member of Atlantic City
Council", said Tibbitt.
"This
is a time for unity and a time to bring our
residents together to solve the important issues
before us. "This is the message that I will be
communicating with the people of Atlantic City
over these next 44 days," said Councilman
Tibbitt.
"People
continually ask me the 34 Million Dollar
question, said Councilman Tibbitt," that being
whose side am I on?"...."The answer is simple...
I am on the side of the Atlantic County
Democratic Party and more importantly the side
of the residents of Atlantic City first",
concluded Councilman George Tibbitt.
