Dafiq Rasheed Unveils Plans
for Atlantic City --
Vows to Bring Necessities and Basics -- Back to
the People
Dafiq Rasheed, candidate for Atlantic City
Council-at-Large seat today announced many of the
highlights of his campaign platform. Rasheed, a
graduate of Atlantic City High School and currently,
a student at Rutgers, said it is time to focus on
the basic necessities for the residents and
taxpayers of Atlantic City.
“The taxpayers and residents, from all parts of
Atlantic City, have suffered long enough with the
corruption and embarrassment that has plagued the
City and Council for so many years,” said Rasheed.
“There is much to be accomplished for the residents,
whose basic needs have been neglected while the city
and council continue to engage in frivolous
lawsuits, patronage hiring and wasteful
expenditures. This has gone on long enough and must
stop immediately, particularly in today’s economic
environment.”
Rasheed, a long time resident of Atlantic City,
brings enthusiasm, energy and innovation to the
forefront in the race for the “At Large” seats.
Highlights of his plan include:
1. Bringing a full service, supermarket to Atlantic
City
2. Transparency, availability and accessibility of
all aspects of City Hall, transactions and
government records including the ability to pay
bills, taxes and fees -- on line.
3. To encourage developers to build affordable
housing for all areas of Atlantic City
4. To institute the use of “green-technology”
through out the City
5. Insure the safety of all residents in all parts
of Atlantic City, while making sure that all police
are effectively deployed; install security cameras
in the most vulnerable sections
6. Additional weekday and weekend programs and
activities for children and seniors
“I have been going door-to-door for many months and
these are the basic issues that appear to be
fundamental to residents, in all parts of the
city. I am running for a “council-at-large seat”
and must be responsive to the needs of all residents
--- from Maine Avenue to Jackson Avenue and every
street in between,” said Rasheed.
