Press Release of Derek Brown-Freeholder at-Large Candidate

To Whom It May Concern:

For as long as I can remember, I have always been taught to work hard, save your money, do not spend frivolously, and only purchase what you can afford.  When times become tough, you spend less, work harder, find ways to help consolidate your bills, etc.  For too long now people have become embedded with the notion of more is better.  More toys, faster cars, bigger houses, and interest free credit cards. Too many people feel that they are endowed to have this type of material wealth.  What some do not realize is, like any Cinderella Story, the carriage soon turns back into a pumpkin.  Payments come due, interest rates sky rocket, and unfortunately, some people can not handle/cope with the extra finances.  To those who are in this situation, my deepest sympathy goes out to you.  However, those companies that had spent more than they should have, IT IS YOUR OWN FAULT, and I refuse to believe that taxpayer money should be given to help fund your establishment.  Boscov’s, as well as other businesses, should not have the privilege of using taxpayer’s money to help their establishment stay in business.  Why should any business be given any additional rights than the Average American?  The Constitution was written to give equal rights to all, not just some.  This is one reason why the average family can not qualify for a home mortgage, consolidation loan, etc.  We are paying for business to stay open and help to pay their bills, when we as citizens are struggling ourselves.  We as taxpayers have the right to decide how our money is spent.  Please join me in standing up against the Boscov’s bailout!  Write to your local Freeholder, County Executive, newspaper, and talk show host. Let them know that this is un-acceptable and you do not want your money going to fund businesses like Boscov’s.  I urge you to do the right thing and support me in saying no. We need local officials to do what is right and demand that our national government only pay for national purposes specified in Article I, Section 8 of our Constitution. Also, please remember to vote June 2nd!  Thank you.
