AMODEO AND POLISTINA GET SUPPORT FROM NJDOT COMMISSIONER
KOLLURI
ON AVIATION RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY PARK
EGG HARBOR TWP. - New Jersey Department of
Transportation Commissioner Kris Kolluri expressed
support for the Aviation Research and Technology Park,
thanks to a meeting today arranged by Assemblymen John
Amodeo and Vince Polistina.
"The FAA Technical Center and the Aviation Research Park
are critical to business and job creation for Atlantic
County, and together will be at the forefront of the
worldwide aeronautical industry development," said
Amodeo. "We invited Commissioner Kolluri to see the
great work the FAA and Stockton College are doing right
in our own backyard."
Representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration
and Stockton College updated Kolluri on the Technical
Center's efforts in designing the nation's next
generation air traffic control system, known as NextGen,
and Stockton College's joint effort with the FAA on
developing the Aviation Research and Technology Park,
adjacent to the Atlantic City International Airport.
After the meeting, the assemblymen said Kolluri
indicated that the Department agreed to review the
related transportation projects.
"We have scientists, engineers, and business executives
from all over the country coming to Atlantic County for
the development of NextGen,"said Polistina. "The point
we wanted to get across to the commissioner is that
Aviation Research Park can keep these people in New
Jersey to do further research, business development and
investment."
Commisisoner Kolluri also delivered more good news upon
his arrival. In response, to an earlier request from
Amodeo and Polistina that the department create a
position of NextGen liaison, Kolluri announced that he
would designate an existing employee in the department
as the departments NextGen liaison.
"The commissioner made a great move in identifying a
point person in this state for aeronautical industry
representatives to go to directly,"said Amodeo. "We
think businesses are more likely to stay in this state
if they know our Transportation Department is fully
engaged in aviation development."
"The FAA and Stockton do an excellent job in pitching
their projects and outlining why both are great for New
Jersey," said Polistina.
"Commissioner Kolluri quickly saw the benefits and
potential of the NextGen project and the Aviation
Technology and Research Park and is now an enthusiastic
advocate for both."
