Assemblymen John Amodeo and Vince Polistina released the
following statement endorsing Chris Christie in the
Republican primary for governor.
“The Republican Party is very fortunate to have four
excellent candidates running for Governor this year. We
have no doubt that any one of the four would bring about
a brighter New Jersey simply by reversing the tax,
borrow and spend philosophy of the Corzine
administration.
“Of
the four, we believe that former United States attorney
Chris Christie would be best suited to bring about the
type of change that we desperately need in this state.
“We have taken time to listen to
all of the candidates while on the campaign trail and
spoken to the candidates or their surrogates on numerous
occasions in order to make the most informed decision
possible. After speaking with and listening to the
candidates, it is evident to us that Chris possesses the
knowledge, experience, decision-making ability, and will
to make the tough decisions that must be made.
We
have been impressed with how quickly Chris has grasped
the state budget issues, the need for quick and
definitive changes in the atrocious regulatory system in
this state, and his focus on how to attract and retain
businesses in New Jersey.
“We
have also heard Chris speak regularly about the
importance of Atlantic City not only to our region but
to the entire state and the many seniors that depend on
the programs provided through the Casino Revenue Fund.
We know through speaking with Chris that there will be a
real commitment to Atlantic City under a Christie
administration and there will absolutely never be a
repeat of the extremely embarrassing Corzine shutdown in
2006.
“New Jersey has a real opportunity to reverse the damage
that the democrats in Trenton have caused over the last
8 years. As his experience winning 136 of 136 political
corruption cases displays, Chris Christie is ready to
take on the Trenton establishment and bring about the
structural and fundamental changes this state needs.
“We
hope that the residents of Atlantic County see fit to
return us to Trenton so that we can continue our message
of reducing spending, lowering debt, eliminating
policies that are stifling our economy and creating
policies that will help businesses and create jobs for
the long term. Just as importantly, we hope that voters
frustrated with the exponential rise in the cost of
living in the state over the last 8 years see fit to
allow a new Chris Christie administration which will
bring a new perspective and new ideas to lead this state
and our people to a more prosperous New Jersey.”
