AMODEO
AND POLISTINA CALL ON GOVERNOR TO MAKE
CASINO
JOB GROWTH A STIMULUS PRIORITY
NORTHFIELD – In a letter to Governor Jon
Corzine, Assemblymen John Amodeo and Vince Polistina
requested that the state direct federal stimulus money
towards facilitating casino job growth.
“With the inevitability of federal stimulus
money, New Jersey must start investing in the Atlantic
City region,” said Amodeo. “Putting infrastructure
money in this region will pay off more in jobs, tax
revenue, and benefits for seniors and disabled than in
any other place in the state.”
“There is about $15 billion dollars of
private capital sitting on the sidelines waiting to be
invested in Atlantic City. The stimulus money will
leverage that capital if the state makes a commitment to
Atlantic City,” said Polistina.
The assemblymen cite research which
indicated that for every casino job created, another job
is created in another region of the state.
“That fact alone proves that the casino
industry is the true economic engine of the state,” said
Amodeo. “It is in the entire state’s best interest to
provide the resources necessary for Atlantic City to
succeed as a destination resort.”
“We have an opportunity at this moment to
map out a comprehensive legislative and regulatory
approach to jump start the one industry that can revive
the state’s economy,” said Polistina.
