Steve & Cookie's is participating in a citywide and
worldwide awareness & fundraiser for Von
Hipple-Lindau (VHL) cancer. This rare cancer has
affected the life of a young boy from our community,
Alex Anderson.
On Saturday May 9th we will be donating a portion of our
nights proceeds. We will also match any donations made
by our guests.

Middle School Student Organizes Coin Drop for Rare
Cancer
Margate, N.J. – On Saturday, May 9, 2009 the VHL Family
Alliance is organizing a worldwide fundraiser to fight
Von Hipple-Lindau (VHL) cancer, and thanks to
local middle school student Alex Anderson, Margate, N.J.
will be taking part. Anderson, age 13, a cancer survivor
and student at Eugene A. Tighe Middle School, has
organized a coin drop at four Margate locations and a
‘Dine & Donate’ event at Steve & Cookie’s Restaurant to
benefit VHL research.
A t age four, Anderson was diagnosed with the rare
cancer Von Hipple-Lindau (www.vhl.org
). He under went life-saving brain surgery as a
preschooler, but today still struggles with the disease
that causes tumors to grow. Since age six, Anderson has
been active in raising funds to fight his disease.
Coin drops will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4
p.m. at:

In addition, patrons of Steve & Cookie’s restaurant on
Saturday night will be informed about VHL and have the
opportunity to make a contribution. Online donations

Margate is part of a worldwide fundraiser that includes
a benefit concert in Massachusetts, a pancake breakfast
in Florida, a wine tasting in Indiana, a theatre
production in Rhode Island and two triathlons in
Washington. International events include a VHLFA
Conference in Manchester, England, a physician’s
regional meeting for Bavaria and Austria in Germany, a
physician presentation in Mumbai India and a bow
l-a-thon in Ontario, Canada.
