DONOHUE ANNOUNCES 2009 ASSEMBLY CANDIDACY
WILL BEGIN
REAGAN-ROUNDTABLE SPEAKERS SERIES
February 5, 2009, Cape
May County, New Jersey: Michael John Donohue, of Dennis
Township, Cape May County, today announces that he will
seek to be a candidate for State Assembly this year.
Donohue, a Cape May County native, will present a letter
of intent to the Chairman of the Cape May County Regular
Republican Organization on February 6, 2009. February
6, 2009, will mark the 99th anniversary of
the birth of President Ronald Reagan.
“Ronald Reagan said nearly
three decades ago that government is not the
solution to our problems, government IS the problem,”
Donohue said. “What we are faced with now is the need
for the radical restructuring of state government in
order to have some hope for prosperity in New Jersey in
the future. If companies that have been in existence
for a hundred years realize that only through
eliminating divisions and downsizing can they survive,
then our state government better wake up to the same
reality immediately.”
Over the course of the
coming months, Donohue will host a series of speakers to
talk about the need for a return to the conservative
principals of small government, lower taxes and
individual economic initiative. The events will be
known as the Reagan-Roundtable Speakers Series. Details
and speakers will be announced in future.
“I have three reasons
why I am running for State Assembly: One is nine years
old, one is seven years old and one is three years old,
my children. If we don’t take action now to reduce the
size of government, lower taxes and create incentives
for businesses to locate in this state, neither my
children nor yours will have any opportunity to grow and
thrive in New Jersey. Our state government needs to be
a partner in prosperity rather than the crusher of
dreams it has become.”
“I do not own a white
flag’” Donohue said. “This moment in our history will
not be recalled for those who cozied-up to the
destructive policies that have battered the struggling
young and the fixed-income elderly alike. Instead, it
will be remembered for those who stood and fought
against all odds to restore the American dream for our
children. I intend to stand and fight.”
