Statement as of 2:53 PM EST on February

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from Tuesday
morning through
Tuesday evening...
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has
issued a Winter
Storm Watch for central and northern Delaware... the
local
Philadelphia area and all of southern New Jersey.
The watch
is in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday
evening. The
potential exists for around four inches of snow.
Light snow is expected to start late tonight and
pick up in
intensity on Tuesday. The most intense snow should
occur during
the afternoon and early evening Tuesday. The snow
could arrive in
time to impact the morning commute, but should have
a greater
impact on afternoon and evening travel. The heaviest
snow should
be over by Tuesday evening... but lighter snow or
flurries could
linger through Tuesday night and into Wednesday.
Potential accumulations may average around four
inches. This has
been a difficult system to forecast snow amounts.
There is still
some uncertainty as to whether the low pressure
system will come
close enough and combine with an upper air
disturbance to cause
heavier snow across the watch area.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for
significant snow
that may impact travel. Please do not become
complacent by today's
warm weather. The snow should fall at a heavy enough
rate to
accumulate even on roadways. Continue to monitor the
latest
forecasts.
